Ryan grew up in Glenwood Springs, Colorado working in his parent's outdoor clothing and equipment retail store. He learned his fishing and boating skills on the Colorado, Roaring Fork, and Frying Pan Rivers. He joined Black Canyon Anglers in 2006. Ryan is a strong whitewater boatman and enjoys the challenge of running big water such as the Grand Canyon, Westwater, and Shoshone sections of the Colorado River.
